Unlock the Doors

Saving Hope Charities, Inc. has kicked-off their official “Unlock the Doors” campaign, and we are asking for your business, church, family, or community organization to financially partner with us to hire the staff we need to open this unique facility to the women & children of our community. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Over the past two weeks that I have been sitting behind a desk at Saving Hope Charities, I have encountered nine homeless women…who are looking for a place to help recreate their living situation, and life in general.

Let me tell you what Saving Hope Charities is not: we are not a battered women’s shelter, safe house, rehab facility, or temporary homeless shelter. But we are the next step past most of these places. We are a living opportunity for women to come and invest in themselves life training skills while having a shelter provided for them and their children.

We are located at the old Country Side Inn motel at 233 Commerce Drive, Leitchfield, KY. The first of three buildings has been remodeled and ready to serve our families.

The women do apply to live here, and they are responsible to pay a $75 weekly living expense. They

are also signing-on to stay with us for at least 6 months, but hopefully up to one year in our facility; to take full opportunity of the various classes and curriculum we have selected for them to work through, as they also find employment and work while living at the center.

As the women enter our facility we will work with them to dreamscape their future, and begin working towards turning that into their reality. For example, we have one lady who says she dreams of becoming an OB Nurse, but said she doesn’t even have her GED. Our goal at Saving Hope Charities is to help her obtain her GED, enroll her in our local community college and get her started on her path to her nursing degree. We have many volunteers willing to tutor with our women to ensure academic success.

Saving Hope Charities is a completely unique center in the way it approaches helping our community. We want to take-in families who need shelter from the storm, and provide training to not only live a self-sustaining life, but to live the joy of life God has in store for us all.

We are faith based, and we require our families to find a church of their choice and to get involved with their services and activities. We want our families to spend their year with us building a new village around themselves, and connecting with community organizations that will continue to foster growth in their lives.

When the women leave us, the goal is they will have approximately 4-6 months of living expenses saved, transportation needs met, established parenting, banking, and job skills to propel them successfully into the future.

We are asking that you help us change the lives of the families in our community by donating financially to our center. Everything you see so far has been paid for and Saving Hope Charities is completely debt free, and the women’s financial obligation will help cover the expenses of utilities and insurance, but we need your support to hire 24/7 staffing needs to unlock the doors and move forward with this life changing experience. Our goal is to have our first families living in the center by January 2017. Hopefully sooner with your support.
